Office stationery sounds like a category where price wins and brand doesn't matter — but that's only true for the commodity segment. A Noida-based premium stationery brand selling leather-bound journals, brass pen sets, custom notepads, and desk organisers came to Ho Digital with a clear target: corporate gifting buyers and premium remote workers who care about workspace aesthetics. In 3 months on a ₹1 lakh per month budget, we delivered 4x ROAS — ₹12 lakh in revenue from ₹3 lakh spend.

About the Brand

The brand's catalogue ranges from ₹299 desk accessories to ₹4,500 executive gifting sets. Average order value sits at ₹1,400, with a strong spike during corporate gifting season (October–January) and onboarding gift season (March–April). They had an existing Shopify store with beautiful product photography but no structured paid traffic strategy.

The Challenge

The stationery category on Google is split between price hunters (searching 'cheap pens bulk' or 'A4 notebooks wholesale') and quality buyers (searching 'premium leather journal India' or 'corporate gifting stationery set'). The brand's entire positioning was in the premium and gifting segment — so targeting the price-hunter segment would attract the wrong buyers and drive poor conversion. Precise keyword and audience segmentation was the foundation of everything.

Our Strategy

We built separate campaign structures for two buyer types: individual premium buyers (remote workers, students, planners) and B2B corporate gifting buyers. Individual buyers responded to product aesthetics and personal productivity framing. Corporate buyers needed bulk pricing, customisation options, GST invoicing, and delivery guarantees. Different intent, different ad copy, different landing pages — but the same product catalogue serving both profitably.

Campaign Architecture

Performance Max — Dual Audience Strategy

Two PMax asset groups: Premium Personal Stationery (targeting aesthetic-driven individual buyers) and Corporate Gifting Sets (targeting HR managers, procurement teams, startup founders). Custom audience signals for corporate buyers were built around job titles and business-related search behaviour. PMax drove 52% of conversions with a 4.3x ROAS.

Google Shopping — Gifting Price Point Segmentation

Custom labels by gifting price range: Under ₹500, ₹500–₹1,500, ₹1,500–₹3,000, and Premium above ₹3,000. This allowed different bid strategies per price point. We pushed aggressively on ₹1,500–₹3,000 gifting sets during the October–January corporate gifting season, where AOV was highest and conversion intent was strongest.

YouTube — Workspace Aesthetic Creative

Short YouTube ads showing the products styled on clean, minimal desk setups — targeting productivity and workspace design content viewers. Used for awareness and retargeting simultaneously. Contributed 12% of conversions, primarily from individual premium buyers with higher AOV than the account average.

CRO — Corporate Gifting Landing Page

A dedicated BYPL landing page for corporate gifting featured: bulk pricing tiers (10–25 sets, 25–50 sets, 50+ sets), branded customisation option (company logo on journals), GST invoice guarantee, delivery timeline commitment, and a sample kit request form. Individual buyer pages led with lifestyle imagery and productivity framing. Conversion rate improved from 1.1% to 3.0%.

Key Takeaways

Premium stationery is not a commodity play — it's a gifting and identity play. Buyers choose a premium journal because it says something about how they work, or because it communicates appreciation when given as a gift. Ads that speak to this emotional dimension consistently outperform ads that lead with product features or price. The most important creative decision in this campaign was leading with 'Give them something they'll use every day' rather than 'Premium leather journal for ₹2,199'.
