Wall art is one of the most considered purchases in home décor — buyers will spend hours browsing before committing to a piece that will hang in their home for years. A Pune-based artist collective selling original Warli, Madhubani, and contemporary abstract wall art, miniature paintings, and handcrafted artifacts came to Ho Digital wanting to scale their D2C channel beyond craft fairs and Instagram. In 4 months on a ₹1 lakh monthly budget, we generated 4x ROAS — ₹16 lakh in revenue from ₹4 lakh spend.
About the Brand
The brand's portfolio includes original paintings (₹2,500–₹35,000), art prints (₹799–₹3,999), and handcrafted artifacts (₹499–₹8,999). Average order value is ₹2,100. Buyers are primarily urban professionals aged 25–45 decorating their first homes, corporate offices sourcing Indian art for lobbies, and gifting buyers looking for meaningful, one-of-a-kind presents.
The Challenge
Art is an extremely high-consideration purchase, especially at higher price points. A buyer browsing a ₹12,000 original painting will not convert on the first session — they'll return 3–5 times, save the image, show their partner, think about where it'll hang, and compare with alternatives. The campaign needed to capture initial intent, maintain visibility throughout the consideration period, and convert when the buyer was finally ready. That's a multi-touchpoint problem, not a single-ad problem.
Our Strategy
We split strategy by price band: high-volume, lower-AOV art prints and small artifacts for immediate purchase decisions, and high-AOV original paintings for multi-session nurturing. For the prints segment, we optimised for same-session conversion. For originals, we built a remarketing stack that stayed with buyers across Google's entire inventory — Search, Display, Gmail, YouTube — for up to 21 days post-first-visit.
Campaign Architecture
Performance Max — Art Style Audience Groups
Asset groups by art style: Traditional Indian Folk Art (Warli, Madhubani, Pichwai), Contemporary & Abstract, and Gifting & Artifacts. Audience signals built around home interior enthusiasts, art collectors, Indian culture appreciation groups, and corporate décor decision-makers. PMax drove 45% of conversions — the lowest PMax share across our portfolio, because the high-consideration nature of original art purchases required more Search intent capture.
Search — Art Category + Gifting Intent
Dedicated Search campaigns for high-intent queries: 'Madhubani painting buy online India', 'original Warli art for home', 'handmade Indian art wall décor', 'unique gifting art India'. These terms had low volume but extremely high commercial intent — the buyers searching them had already decided on the art style and were actively looking to purchase. Search drove 35% of conversions with the highest average order value in the account.
YouTube & Display — Extended Remarketing
For original paintings above ₹5,000, we ran a 21-day remarketing sequence: Days 1–7 Display ads with the specific painting the buyer had viewed. Days 8–14 YouTube 'about the artist' and process videos — showing the brushwork and craftsmanship. Days 15–21 reminder Display ads with a time-limited offer. This sequence kept the brand visible across the entire decision window and drove the majority of high-value original painting conversions.
CRO — Gallery-Quality Product Pages
BYPL pages treated each artwork like a gallery listing: multiple high-resolution images (close-up of brushwork, full painting, room-styled context shot), artist biography and inspiration behind the piece, materials and dimensions, a 'certificate of authenticity' badge, and an EMI option for original paintings above ₹5,000. GoKiwi showed 'Only 1 available — this is an original'. Conversion rate moved from 0.9% to 2.8%.

Key Takeaways
Art purchases require patience in the campaign structure. Optimising for same-session conversion in a high-consideration category leads to cutting spend on the touchpoints that are most critical — the mid-funnel nurturing that moves a browser from 'I love this' to 'I'm buying this'. The 21-day remarketing sequence we built for original paintings was the highest-ROI investment in this campaign. Brands in high-consideration categories should measure assisted conversions — not just last-click — before making budget allocation decisions.
