Most D2C stone jewelry brands hit the same wall: early Meta Ads success, then creative fatigue, climbing frequency, and collapsing ROAS. This Jaipur-based crystal jewelry brand came to Ho Digital stuck at 1.8x ROAS with frequency at 4.8 and no way to scale without further destroying returns.

About the Brand

Our client sells handcrafted crystal and healing stone jewelry — raw stone rings, chakra bracelets, and crystal pendants — directly through their Shopify store, shipping pan-India. Strong organic following, excellent reviews, and clear product-market fit. The problem was entirely on the Meta Ads side.

The Real Problem: Creative Strategy and Ad Fatigue

The brand was running polished studio-shot static images — catalogue-quality, but dead in a user's feed. Their core women's audience had seen these same creatives 4–5 times each. CTR had collapsed from 2.4% to 0.6%, and every attempt to push spend beyond ₹60K/month delivered under 1.5x ROAS. The spend was there; the creative strategy was not.

The deeper issue: Meta rewards authenticity. Healing crystals and handcrafted jewelry are categories where the buyer's personal story — how the piece makes them feel, who gifted it, what it means — drives the purchase more than any product specification. Our strategy needed to move from brand content to human content.

Our Meta Ads Strategy

Phase 1: Creative Testing and PMF Validation

We killed all running campaigns and rebuilt from scratch. CBO test: 4 ad sets (Broad 18–45F, Jewellery Interest Stack, Healing/Wellness, 1% Purchase Lookalike) × 5 creatives each — UGC unboxing, creator reels, testimonial stories, behind-the-scenes craftsmanship, and an origin story. Kill criteria: <2% CTR at ₹2,000 spend or <3x ROAS at ₹5,000 spend. The test ran 7 days at ₹15,000/day. All three winning creatives were authentic, non-brand content.

Phase 2: Advantage+ Shopping (ASC) at Scale

We moved the top UGC and creator creatives into an Advantage+ Shopping Campaign at ₹40,000/day. ASC's algorithm removed rigid audience constraints and found buyers across broad segments we hadn't explicitly targeted. We refreshed creative assets every 10 days — rotating 8 variants across UGC, creator reels, and testimonials — to keep frequency under 2.5 and ROAS healthy at scale.

Phase 3: Retargeting Warm and High-Intent Audiences

Parallel retargeting stack: 14-day website visitors (non-purchasers), 30-day add-to-cart and initiate checkout, Instagram Reel viewers with 50%+ watch time from last 30 days, and an email upload of existing customers for cross-sell. Retargeting creatives used social proof hooks, limited-time offers, and personalised product carousels — closing warm intent without wasting cold-audience budget.

Creative Strategy: Hooks, UGC, and Partnership Ads

Ad Hooks That Stopped the Scroll

Three hook types tested — social proof story, direct challenge, and identity-curiosity. Winners: "My sister got me this bracelet for ₹399. I've been stopped 6 times this week asking where I got it." (42% thumb-stop rate); "Still paying mall prices for jewellery? This brand ships handcrafted crystal pieces directly from Jaipur." (2.9% CTR); "POV: You discovered the crystal jewelry brand all the healing girls on Instagram are wearing." (highest conversion rate from video to purchase). Social proof story reels outperformed every brand creative by 4x.

UGC from Real Customers

We sourced UGC from customers who had already posted organically about the brand on Instagram — offering ₹300 store credit for a 30-second unboxing or review Reel. Phone-shot, unfiltered, natural lighting. Three of these UGC videos drove 68% of total purchase revenue in the ASC campaign. The lesson: raw authenticity converts better than production quality in the jewellery and lifestyle categories.

Partnership Ads with Micro-Influencer Whitelisting

Four micro-influencers (10K–80K followers, healing/wellness and fashion niches) created content for the brand. Instead of standard influencer posts, we ran their creatives as Partnership Ads (Branded Content Ads) from their creator accounts — giving us full campaign control, A/B testing capability, and retargeting access to their engaged audiences. CPM was 22% lower than brand-page ad sets, with significantly higher engagement and trust signals.

Results After 90 Days

Ad Spend: ₹1.2L/month | Revenue: ₹6L/month | ROAS: 5x | CTR: 0.6% → 3.4% | Thumb-Stop Rate (best UGC reel): 42% | Frequency controlled at under 2.5 (from 4.8) | Top creative type: UGC unboxing reels | Best campaign: Advantage+ Shopping (ASC).

Key Takeaways for Stone Jewelry Brands on Meta

1. Polished brand creatives consistently underperform raw UGC for jewellery and lifestyle products on Meta. 2. Advantage+ Shopping works best when fed diverse, high-CTR authentic creatives — not catalog carousels. 3. Partnership Ads (whitelisted influencer content) deliver lower CPM and higher trust than brand-page ads. 4. Creative refresh every 10 days is non-negotiable when scaling to prevent frequency build-up and ROAS erosion.
