Meta Ads for Pooja Items and Festival Products: Scaling Year-Round Revenue with Seasonal Creator Content [4x ROAS India]

Festival product brands in India face a unique Meta Ads challenge: enormous demand spikes during Diwali, Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Karva Chauth — and near-zero return on ad spend in the months between. If you run the same ads year-round, you waste budget. If you only run during festivals, you miss the compounding advantage of a warm audience built over time. This Mathura-based pooja and festival products brand had the first problem — a 1.4x ROAS in off-season months and scrambling every time a festival approached. Ho Digital built a proper year-round strategy.
About the Brand
The brand sells handcrafted pooja thalis, diyas, festival decor items, incense collections, and ritual accessories — all made by traditional artisans — directly through their online store. Authenticity and craftsmanship were their strongest differentiators. But their Meta Ads strategy treated every month the same, with generic "buy our pooja products" campaigns that performed poorly outside festival windows.
The Problem: Seasonal Thinking in an Always-On Platform
Meta Ads are most effective when you build warm audiences continuously — people who have seen your content, engaged with your brand, and been retargeted across multiple touchpoints. A brand that only advertises during Diwali has no warm audience to retarget when Diwali arrives, meaning they pay the highest CPMs to cold audiences at the worst possible time. This brand was starting from zero every festival season.
The off-season spend problem was equally severe: without a clear "why buy now" angle outside festivals, ads ran with no emotional hook, no urgency, and no conversion trigger. Budget was being wasted on impressions with no purchase intent. The fix required both a year-round content calendar and a clear off-season value proposition beyond just "festival is coming."
Our Meta Ads Strategy
Phase 1: Building an Always-On Warm Audience Engine
We established a year-round audience-building campaign running at a low base budget (₹5,000/day) with three types of content: everyday devotional lifestyle content ("your morning puja setup"), gifting occasion content (birthdays, housewarming, new year), and artisan craft story content (behind-the-scenes of the craftspeople making the products). This campaign's goal was not direct purchase — it was building warm video audiences, Instagram engagers, and website visitors who would become highly cost-effective retargeting targets when festival season arrived.
Phase 2: Festival Sprint Campaigns with 30-Day Lead Time
For each major festival — Navratri, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Karva Chauth, Holi — we launched a campaign 30 days before the event date. Week 1–2: awareness and inspiration (puja setup ideas, festival decor guides). Week 3: social proof and product showcase (UGC home setup reveals, artisan story). Week 4: urgency and delivery cutoff (order now for on-time delivery). This 4-week arc built purchase intent progressively rather than running hard-sell ads from day one.
Phase 3: Warm Audience Retargeting During Festival Windows
The year-round audience building paid off during festival windows. Instead of cold CPMs of ₹180–₹220, we were retargeting warm audiences — video viewers, Instagram engagers, website visitors — at CPMs of ₹60–₹80, with significantly higher purchase intent. Previous Diwali buyers were retargeted for Navratri with a "you loved your Diwali setup — here's your Navratri collection." Gifting-focused retargeting ran year-round for family occasions and housewarmings.
Creative Strategy: Festival UGC, Artisan Stories, and Devotional Hooks
Hooks That Connected Emotionally with Festival Buyers
"How to set up a perfect Diwali puja thali — we ship everything you need, made by artisans in Mathura." — complete solution hook, 3.1% CTR, high AOV. "Your Navratri this year deserves this setup. Here's what 50,000 families ordered last year." — social proof + aspiration hook, 2.7% CTR. "The diya your grandmother used looked like this. We still make them the same way." — heritage and nostalgia hook, highest emotional resonance and video completion rate. The nostalgia hook generated 18K organic shares on one Diwali reel — a significant unpaid reach multiplier.
Festival Home Setup UGC and Community Content
We built a "share your puja setup" UGC collection programme — reaching out to buyers who had already tagged the brand in festival posts, and amplifying the best-looking setups as paid Partnership-style content. Festival home setup reveals, "my Diwali decoration haul," and "first puja in my new home" content resonated deeply across the devotional and home decor communities. Ten of these UGC pieces ran across all festival campaigns and accounted for 58% of festival-season purchase revenue.
Devotional and Home Creator Partnership Ads
We partnered with 4 devotional lifestyle creators and 3 home decor influencers (25K–200K followers) who created festival home setup content featuring the brand's products. These ran as Partnership Ads timed to each festival — giving us creator authenticity, audience trust, and retargeting access to the creator's engaged followers who were already deeply interested in festival home aesthetics. Festival Partnership Ad CPM was 29% lower than brand-page placements due to higher relevance scores.
Results Over 12 Months
Average Monthly Ad Spend: ₹1L (₹3L during Diwali sprint) | Average ROAS: 4x | Peak Festival ROAS (Diwali): 6x | Off-Season ROAS (always-on campaigns): 2.8x (from 1.4x before) | Warm audience size at Diwali 2024: 3.2L (video viewers + engagers vs 0 the year before) | Top creative: Heritage nostalgia "grandmother's diya" Reel with 18K organic shares | Repeat buyer rate across festivals: 52%.
Key Takeaways for Festival and Pooja Product Brands on Meta
1. Festival brands must build warm audiences year-round — starting ads only at festival time means paying peak CPMs with no warm pool to retarget. 2. A 30-day pre-festival campaign arc (inspire → social proof → urgency) converts significantly better than hard-sell ads starting day one. 3. Heritage and nostalgia hooks drive the highest emotional resonance and organic share rates for traditional product categories. 4. Festival-gifting is an always-on angle that sustains off-season revenue without requiring a festival-season trigger.
